Be it remembered that the members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council
Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, January 3, 1944, for the purpose of electing officers for the year 1944. Mayor J.I.
Pavey served as presiding officer... All members were present. The meeting convened at the hour of 7 :30 P.M.
Mayor Pavey asked for nominations for the presidency. Councilman Richardson nominated Councilman Clem Niezgodski.
Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Councilman Heideman made a motion to close the nominations. Councilman Korpaj
seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mayor Pavey announced the unanimous vote for Councilman Niezgodski as president,
Councilman Richardson nominated Councilman Hull as vice president. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Coun-
cilman Bishop made a motion to close the nominations. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Nominations closed. Councilman Hull elected vice president.
Councilman Bishop nominated Mayor Pavey as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Councilman Mirocha seconded the nom -
ination. Councilman Brannan made a motion to close the nominations. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion.
Motion carried. Mayor Pavey elected Chairman of the Finance Committee.
