Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular meeting in the Council
Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, November 22, 1943, at 7 :35 P.M. Councilman Hull, McCarthy, Bishop and Richardson
were absent. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
A report of the Ways & Means Committee (relative to ordinance authorizing certain equipment of the Street
was given and accepted on motion of Councilman Niezgodski, seconded by Councilman Mirocha.
A report of the Ways & Means Committee (relative to erection of street light on property of Huckins Tool & Die Co.
and Oriental Wrought Iron Works, Inc.) was accepted on motion of Councilman Niezgodski, seconded by Councilman
Korpal.
A report from the City Engineer Clyde Williams on a meeting held with certain railroad officials and representatives
of civic organizations was ordered placed on file on motion of Councilman Niezgodski, seconded by Councilman Korpal.
The report of the City Controller for the month of October was accepted on motion of Councilman Korpal, seconded by
Councilman Niezgodski.

ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SALE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY (Street Department)
The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 5 ayes - 0 nays - 4 absent.
A.eommunication from the Board of Public Works & Safety, by Chairman Clyde Williams, regarding the application for
a federal grant to construct a pavement on Chippewa Avenue from Michigan Street to the Southmore Heights Housing
Project, was read in connection with the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE,
AN ORDINANCE REDUCING THE APPROPRIATION FOR THE YEAR 1943 OF THE W.P.A. FUND IN
THE AMOUNT OF $69500.00; FOR THE TRANSFER OF $69500.00 FROM SAID W.P.A. FUND TO
THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA; FOR THE EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION
OF $69500400 TO PAY FOR A PORTION OF. THE COST OF PAVING A PART OF CHIPPEWA AVENUE,
AND THE T RANSFER OF SAID $6,500.00 FROM 21E GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA TO ALT ACCOUNT KNOWN AS THE CHIPPEWA PAVEMENT FUND.
The ordinance was given first and second reading Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the ordinance be referr
ed to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on December 13. Councilman Mirocha seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE TO CITY EMPLOYEES.
The resolution was read and upon motion of Councilman Mirocha, seconded by Councilman Niezgodski, the rules were
suspended. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of 5 ayes - 0 nays - 4 absent.
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
