on June 28, 1943, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, at 7:40 P.M. with all members present except Councilman McCarthy.
President Brannan presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
A communication from the Avalon Grotto was read and ordered placed on file, on motion of Councilman Heideman, second
ed by Councilman Bishop.
REPORT OF THE CO.K01ITTEE OF THE WHOLE June 28, 1943
ITo the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance amending Ordinance 2331, commonly known as the Zoning
Ordinance"
Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance should go to the
Council favorably.

Councilman Bishop made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON TrINUTES
ITo the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected
the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same
be approved.

Councilman Heideman made a motion to accept the report and place on file. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion.

A report from the Board of Public Works, regarding N.Y.C.R.R. tracks at Lincoln Way West, was read and ordered
placed on file on motion of Councilman Bishop, seconded by Councilman Richardson.

Councilman Bishop made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Councilman Heideman made a motion that the City Controller be advised to f urnish the Council a report of froaen ass
now held by banks. This report to be given at earliest convenience. Councilman Richardson secondedthe motion.
Motion carried.
I ORDINANCE NO. 3452
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "'(ZONING ORDINANCE)" BY CHANGING THE ZONING
CLASSIFICATIONT OF CERTAIN ;DESCRIBED REAL ESTgTE..
The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (McCarthy).
ORDINANCE NO. 3453
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND RATIFYING A CERTAIN CONTRACT MADE AND ENTERED INTO BY
AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND ITS BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY AND
KORTE BROS., IND., FOR THE PURCHASE OF A STREET SWEEPER.
The ordinance was given first and second reading. City Attorney Levy made a request for suspension of the rules.
Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried
by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 11-absent I (McCarthy). The ordinance was given third reading and passed by
a roll call vote of 8 ayes - o nays - 1 absent (McCarthy).
IORDINANCE NO. 3454
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND RATIFYING A CERTAIN CONTRACT MADE AND ENTERED INTO BY
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC ?WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND ANT) THE H. G. CHRISTMAN
COYSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., FOR THE ERECTION? OF A SHOP ADDITION TO THE CENTRAL FTRE
STATION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND.
The ordinance was given first and second reading. City Attorney Levy made a request for the suspension of rules.
Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that in the future any matters requiring the approval of the Council not be pub-
licized until such approval is made. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried by a vote of 8 ayes
0 nays - 1 absent (McCarthy).

A committee of River Park businessmen spoke to the Council regarding the "no parking" situation in the 2200 block
Mishawaka Avenue. Councilman Hull made a motion that the City Engineer revise the present "no parking"' situation
in the 2200 block Mishawaka Avenue and report at the next regular meeting of the Council. Councilman Bishop seconder
the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
