HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-14-43 Council Meeting Minutes337 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session, Monday, June 14, 1943, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, with all members present except Councilman Richardson. President Brannan presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. A communication signed by D. E. Williams and A. L. McCracken, relating to dogs running at large, was read and order- ed placed on file on motion of Councilman Niezgodski, seconded by Councilman Bishop. A copy of a letter written by Ernest H. Miller, City Traffic Engineer, to Alex Ewald, in answer to a communication regarding the color combination of school signs, was ordered placed on file on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Bishop. A communication regarding trash removal; signed by the South Bend Civic Planning Assn. Inc., was referred to the Board of Public Works for considerations on motion of Councilman Bishop, seconded by Councilman Hull. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE MHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance reducing the appropriation for repairs of buildings. and structures in the cemetery department of the City of South Bend, Indiana in the amount of 1500.00; appropriatinE $$500.00 to the properties - other equipment fund of the cemetery department of the City of South Bend, Indiana; de- claring an emergency: Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be reported to the Council favorably. STANLEY C. KORPAL Chairman Pro Tem Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 3451 Aq ORDINANCE REDUCING THE APPROPRIATION FOR REPAIRS OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CEMETERY DEPA M- ENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA IN THE AMOUNT OF x$500.00; APPROPRIATING $500.00 TO THE PROPERTIES - OTHER EQUIPMENT FUND OF THE CEMETERY DE- PA-ffMMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: DECLARING AN 34ERGENCY. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Richardson). O319I103TCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDIAIG AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "(Zoning Ordinance)" The ordinance was given first and second readings. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to refer the ordinance to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on June 28. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
