HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-24-42 Council Meeting MinutesBe it remembered that the members of the Common Council met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, August 24, 1942, at 9:47 P.M. with all members present. President Pulaski presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. PETITION TO THE CONL1ON COUNCIL AND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY: Gentlemen: Aug. 20th, 1942: We the undersigned business owners, petition your honorable body to remove no parking zones from the 2200 block on Mishawaka Ave., as we feel that the double parking question can be minimized by providing more parking space rather than by destroying available space. Yours Respectfully, (6 petitioners) Councilman Richardson made a motion to refer the petition to the Committee on Streets and Alleys, said Committee to report back to the Council at the next meeting. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 8/24/42 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance fixing the salaries and providing for paid vacations of certain paid officials and employees of the municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith ". Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the Council favorably. LEO M. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 8/24/42 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance fixing the salaries for the various officials of the civil city of South Bend, Ind., for the period beginning January 1, 1943, and ending December 31, 1943, both inclu- sive." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and,that in their opinion the ordinance as amended shall be jreported to the Council favorably. LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 8/24/42 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "'An ordinance appropriating monies for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the City Plan Commission of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1943"and ending December 31, 1943, including all contractual obligations and fixing a time when the same shall take effect." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be' reported to the Council favorably. LEO M.
