HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-13-42 Council Special Meeting MinutesBe it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Thursday, August 13, 1942, at 7 :40 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Brannan. President Pulaski presided. SPECIAL CALL South Bend, Indiana August 13 -1942 TO THE CITY CLERK, PRESITDENT AND MErMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a special meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet at the.hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. on August 13th, 1942 in the Council Chambers in said City for the purpose of receiving the pro- posed budgets for the fiscal year of 1943. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council of said City and make due return of such service of said special meeting. J. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARIES AND PROVIDING FOR PAID VACATIONS OF CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES qOF THE TJUNIGIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to refer the ordinance to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDDINANCE FIXING THE SALARIES FOR THE VARIOUS OFFICIALS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOI THE PERIOD COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1943, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1943, BOTH INCLUSIVE. The ordinance was given first and second reading and upon motion of Councilman Richardson, .seconded by Councilman Bishop, was referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. s- Y (Councilman Brannan in attendance) ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING rMONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1943 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1943, INCLUDING ALL CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SMALL TAKE EFFECT. The ordinance was ,riven first and second reading. Councilman VeCarthy, made a motion that the ordinance be refer to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOS1, OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1943, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1943, INCLUDING ALL OUTSTANDDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Bishop made a motion to refer the ordinance to the Committee of the 1.hole for public hearing on .August 24th. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to refer the ordinance to the Com-mitteeof the hole for public hearing on August 24th. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for-public hearing on August 24th. The ordinance was given first and second readint. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to refer the ordinance to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion.
