HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-10-42 Council Meeting Minutes31'7 Be it remembered that the members of the Common Council met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, August 10th, 1942, at 7:40 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Brannan. President Pulaski pre- sided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. A communication from Congressman Robert A. Grant,relative to a resolution adopted by the Common Council of South Bend requesting the naming of a navy cruiser "South Bend "', was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. A: communication from Mrs. L.M. Crosby Coffman, suggesting a traffic light at the intersection of E. Fairview and Michigan Streets, was read by the Clerk and upon the motion of Councilman Heideman, seconded by Councilman Jordan, the communication was referred to the City Traffic Engineer. REPORT OF THE CCMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 8 -10 -42 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2331, passed by the Common Council June 25, 1923 and commonly known as the w ning ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana" Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be reported t the Council favorably. LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman Councilman McCarthy made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINA.NCR N0. 3425 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331, PASSED BY THE COPIRTON COUNCIL JUNE 25, 1923 AND COT&ONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Brannan). ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF CALHOUN STREET TO GARLAND ROAD. The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion-that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business, Council adjourned at 7:47 P.M. ATTEST: `/ _ �r• CLERK .
