AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $125,672 FROM THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend Fire Department wishes to purchase clear command systems for all
members of the Department. The appropriation of these monies will allow the Department to utilize
a Federal Grant to purchase this equipment, thus allowing the Fire Department to fight fires more
effectively and protect our firefighters and the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the following sum of money is hereby appropriated from the Emergency
Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund (#288) for the purchase of new equipment:

Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Please find attached an ordinance for filing requesting an appropriation of $125,672.00
from the Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund. This appropriation
will cover the Federal Grant for Clear Command Portable Radio Communication
Systems for our firefighters.
The total amount of the appropriation will be reimbursed by the U.S. Fire Administration
2003 Firefighters Assistance Grant.
Chief Switalski or myself will be available to answer any questions that you might have
and Chief Switalski will be making the final presentation at the public meeting.
