City Hall, Monday,'Deeember 8, 1941, at 7:41 P.M. with all members present. President Richardson presided. The
reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
The Clerk read three communications (The St. Hedwige Parent - Teacher Association, Young Men's Civic Club of St.
Hedwige Parish and Polish - American Democratic Club of St. Hedwige Parish) petitioning the Council for police protec-
tion for school children attending St. Hedwige school at the intersection of Chapin and Napier streets.
Councilman Niezgodski made s. motion that the petition be referred to.the Board of Safety with a request that such
police protection be given. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried.

ordinance" -

ORDINANCE.
The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes 0 nays.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2243, BEING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING ALL
MATTERS CONCERNING OR PERTAINING TO THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, REPAIRS OR
ADDITIONS TO, REMODELING, USE OR OCCUPANCY OF BUILDINGS, OR THEIR PARTS, AND
STRUCTURES OF EVERY NATURE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PROVIDING FOR
CONDEMNATION AND STOPPAGE OF THE USE THEREOF AND REGULATING THE SAME, CREATING
THE OFFICES OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER, ASSISTANCE BUIL7DING COMMISSIONER AND
CITY ELECTRICIAN AND PROVIDING FOR THE OFFICE OF THE BUILiDING DEPARTMENT, AND

The ordinance as originally presented was given third reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the ordinance
be amended to read as per copy submitted by the City .Attorneyand in the hands of the Clerk. Councilman Bishop sec-
onded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. The amended ordinance was given third
reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. `
ORDINANCE N0. 3410
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING CONTRACTS BETWEEN THE BOARD OF WATER WORKS TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND LAYNE- NORTHERN CO. INC. MICHAWAKA, INDIANA,
DATED DECEMBER 1st, 1941.
The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Pulaski made a motion for the. suspension of rules.
Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. The ordinance was
given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays.
RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE TO CITY EMPLOYEES
Whereas, the City of South Bend is approaching the close of its fiscal year; And,
WHEREAS, the office of the City Controller will be required to make numerous payments and close its numerous and
complicated accounts; And,
(WHEREAS, it is desirable that the work of said office be simplified when possible,
INOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
(Section I. That all employees of the city shall be paid their salaries in full for the month of December on the 1
of said month.
(Section II. The Controller of the City of South Bend, is hereby authorized to make said salary payments upon said
date.
Section III. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and
its approval by the Mayor.
Councilman McCarthy made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
There being no further business, Council adjourned at 8:.05 P.M. on motion
