President Richardson preside The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. (PETITION TO THE HONORABLE CO!j!MON COUNCIL South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: South Bend, Indiana July 31, 1941 We, the undersigned, being property owners and residents in the vicinity of River Park, petition your Honorable Body to authorize the Grand Trunk Railroad to install proper crossing facilities at 30th and 32nd Streets in order that these streets may be opened to the public from Mishawaka Avenue to Jefferson Boulevard within the next sixty (60) days. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Aug. 25, 1941 Your Committee of the Thole to whom was referred "An ordinance transferring certain funds from the General Fund of the City Water Works Department to the General Fund of the City of South Bend, Ind." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance should go to the Council favorably. LEO M. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Aug. 25, 1941 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance appropriating monies for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the Policemen's Pension Fund of the city government of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1942, and ending December 31, 1942, including all outstanding claims and obligations, and fixing a time when the same shall take effect." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall he reported favorably to the Council. LEO M. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to the Council favorably. LEO M. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE Aug. 25, 1941 To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance appropriating monies for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the City Plan Commission of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1942 and ending December 31, 1942, including all contractual obligations and fixing a time when the same shall take effect. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be reported to the Council favorably. LEO M. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE MOLE Aug. 25, 1941 To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whome was referred "An ordinance fixing the salaries for the various officials of the Civil City of South Bend, for the period commencing January 1, 1942 and ending December 31, 1942, both inclusive." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the Council favorably. LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman Councilman Bishop made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE Aug. 25, 1941 To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance fixing the salaries and providing for paid vacations of certain city officials and employees of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith." Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the Council favorably. LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman Councilman Pulaski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE Aug. 25, 1941 To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance appropriating money for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the several departments of the city government of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1942 and ending December 31, 1942, including all outstanding claims and obligations, and fixing a time when the same shall take effect. "' Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the Council favorably as amended.(Amended as follows in the meeting of the Committee of the Whole: Motion that the con- tingency fund item in the budget of the office of the City Controller shall be stricken and the working balance be increased in the sum of $5000 and the contingency fund be eliminated from the Controller's budget.) Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the Council favorably. LEO M. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. ORDINANCE NO. 3392 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1942 FOR THE MUNICIPAL CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. RESOLUTION RESOLUTION ALLOCATING THE SUM OF TWENTY -FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) FROM THE AMOUNT APPROPRIATED FOR WPA AND PWA IN THE 1941 BUDGET UNDER ACCOUNT H-27-FOR DEPART - MENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO SPECIAL WPA ACCOUNT. BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana. 2-8-3 That the sum of Twenty -Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) be and the same is hereby allocated from Account H -27, Department of Public Works in the 1941 Budget to Special 'WPA Account, and that this amount so allocated by the Commoh Council may be used during "the year 1941, for the purchase of materials, labor and other items chargeable to the various City WPA projects subject to the approval of the Board of Works. The amount so allocated shall be deducted from the acount of One Hundred Fifty -Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($158,500.00) appropriated in the 1941 Budget under account H -27, Department of Public Works. Councilman Hull made a motion for the adoption of the RSsolution. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.
