(.Attached Resolution) Desiring to improve a serious traffic problem of our City, our membership in a recent meeting adopted the Resolution below as follows: WHEREAS: The,Northern Indiana Transit Co., Inc., having replaced all street cars with motor busses, and WHEREAS: These busses load and unload passengers in the inner lane of traffic thereby not only congesting -.'traffic but also endangering the lives and property of pedestrians and automobile owners. THEREFORE 13E IT RESOLVED:.. That the South Bend City Council be requested to pass an ordinance requiring the bus drivers to load and unload passengers on corners after going through the intersections except at the regular bus stop at the Court House and Interurban Station. Copies be sent to Board of Public Safety, C.I.O. Council and to the Press. Councilman Bishop made a motion that the communication be referred to the Streets, Alleys and Bridges Committee. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. 11otion carried 9 ayes - 0 nays. REPORT OF THE COMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: 7/8/40 Your Special Committee to whom was referred an ordinance pertaining to the cultivation and use of land within the boundaries of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and declaring; a nuisance. Respectfully report,that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the report of the Special Committee . shall be accepted and placed on file and the ordinance shall go to the Council unfavorably. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE PROHIMINC THE KEEPING OF BEES 1ITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. Councilman Bull made a motion that the ordinance go to the Committee of the Whole for a public hearing on July 22nd.' Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. !fiotion carried. (This ordinance was given first and second reading). ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND .A?TP FIREMEN' S PENSIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 31 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEM1BLY OF INDIANA, 80TH, SESSION, 1937. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Richardson made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on July 22nd. Councilman Brannon second- ed the motion. Motion carried. H -27, DEPARTT4ENT OF PUBLIC ?rTORKS TO SPECIAL !':TPA ACCOUNT. BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Cotancil of the Cili- of South Bend, Indiana. That the sum of Twenty -Five Thousand Dolllar ($25,000.00) be and the same is hereby allocated from Account No. H -27, Department of Public Works in the 1940 Budget to Special I�PA account, and that this amount so allocated by the Common Council may be used during the year 1940, for tl.e purchase of materials, labor and other items chargeable to the various City I4PA projects, subject to the approval of the Board of Norks. The amount so allocated shall be deducted from the amount of One Hundred Seventy -Seven Thousand, One Hundred Ninety Dollars ($177,190.00), appropri- ated in the 1940 budget under Account H -27, Department of Public v'Vorks. RESOLUTION OF CO_U-KO1u COUH=L OF TzE Tv J ,TICIPAL C ITY OF SOUTH BEN' D, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF LAN ?D FOR P_, K D PLAYGROUYiD PURPOSES WITINTESSETH, That, VMIEREAS, Garden Homes, Inc., an Indiana Indiana, for the use and benefit of its and playground purposes, the follo,:ving to -wit: corporation, has offered to donate to The ?•_unicipal Department of Punlic Parks and /or its Board of Park described real estate in St. Joseph County, state of 203 Citi* of South Rend, Corlmi ssioners for park Indiana., owned by it, ?'lock Lettered Ivi as shown on the Recorded Plat of Belleville Gardens, an addition to the city of South Rend, Indiana, which said addition is located in and is a part of the Northeast quarter of Section No. 17, Township No. 37 North, Range Yo. 2 East, and the plat of which said addition is duly recorded and is now of record in the Recorder's office of St. Joseph County, state of Indiana, in Plat Book No. 14, at page lettered B, and wrhic1i said Block lettered 11 is also designated on said plat as Park, and has tendered its warranty deed to said real estate, and, !TIEREAS, the Common Council of The Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, is desirous of accepting said donation of the above described real estate for park and playground purposes, and of accepting the warranty died to said real estate tendered by said Garden Homes, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of The Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, at its meeting dul-ir and legally held in the City Hall in the city of South Bend, Indiana, on the 8th day of July, 1940, that the donation of the above described real estate by Garden Homes, Inc., an Indiana corporation, to The Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, for the use and benefit of its Department of Public Parks and /or its Board of Park Commissioner,., for park and playground purposes, and the warranty deed executed by said Garden Homes, Inc., to the Municipal City o South Bend, Indiana, for the use and benefit of its Department of Public Parks and /or its Board of Park Commissioner for said real estate, and now tendered to said Board, shall be, and the same are hereby accepted for the.uses and purposes for which said donation of the above described real estate is made and said warranty deed is executed, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, that said Board shall and does hereby express its appreciation and thanks to said Garden Homes, Inc., an Indiana corporation, and the officers, directors and stockholders of said corporation for said donation of the above described real estate for park and playground purposes, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, that the Clerk of said city be, and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this resolution to said Garden Homes, Inc.
