President Carthy presided with all members present. SPECIAL CALL ITO THE CITY CLERK, PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE CO TON COUNCIL, ,City of South Bend, Indiana IGentlemen:- South Bend, Indiana December 26 - 1939 You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a special meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet at'the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P.M. on December 26th, 1939, in the Council Chambers in said City for the purpose of - 1. Considering the Bicycle Ordinance 2. Considering the Taxicab Ordinance 3. Approving a contract between the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company and the City of South Bend for Street Lighting 4. Approving contract between the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company and the City of South Bend for Traffic.Lights. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council of said City and make due return of such service at said special meeting. BICYCLE REGISTRATION ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AID PROVIDING FOR AND REQUIRING REGISTRATION OF BICYCLES BY THE OWNERS THEREOF IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AND REGULATING THE RIDING AND OPERATING OF SUCH BICYCLES, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HERE111ITH. Councilman Jordan made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for further consideration and public hearing at meeting to be held on January 8, 1940. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. The motion was carried by a verbal vote of 8 ayes - 1 nay(Councilman Bull) ORDINANCE NO. 3309 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2979, entitled "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF TAXI- CABS ". This ordinance was given third reading by title. Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the ordinance be passed. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried by roll call vote of 9 ayes - o nays. ORDINANCE NO. 3310 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, an Indiana Corporation. This ordinance was given third reading by title. Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the ordinance be passed. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by roll call of 9 -ayes, 0 -nays. ORDINANCE NO. 3311 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY. The ordinance was given third reading by title. Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the ordinance be passed. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. Ordinance adopted by roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. 17174 There being no further business, Councilman Pulaski made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Brannon seconded the motio Motion carried.
