That the Common Council of the City-of South Bend be, and they are hereby, requested to enact an ordinance fixing the salaries for members of the Police, fire and electrical departments for the year 1940 upon the same basis as salaries are now being paid to members of said departments. 2. Motion carried. i 1142 RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE GATES AT THE CITY CEMETERY: (as amended) WHEREAS, the walk gates at th% City Cemetery have been closed to the public except the Elm Street entrance. WHEREAS, people living north of the cemetery must walk to the Elm Street entrance, a distance from one -half to three - fourths of a mile and a great inconvenience to them. WHEREAS, there are walk gates available, opening of them would not be an additional cost to the City of South Bend. THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend to order proper author- ity to open the Linden Avenue and LaPorte Avenue walk gates at the City Cemetery during the hours of 8 :00 A. M. to 7:00 P -M- form April 1 to October 19 of each year. These gates are to be :narked with proper signs to the effect that the property is not a thorough- fare. RESOLUTION WBEUIAS, Great confusion exists over the spelling of a South Brnd thoroughfare named Angela boule- vard, the name being spelled both with one ''L" and two "Ls" and WHEREAS, the thoroughfare was named -after Mother Angela, of St. Mary's, who passed away March 4th 1997, and WHEREAS, Mother Angela spelled her name Angela, using only one "L ", and WHEREAS, The incorrect spelling is due to an error of a. clerk who inserted an extra "L" without authority, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the street department is her4by aothorized to correct the spelling of the said name on all street signs on the said thoroughfare, the correct name being "Angela boulevard ".
