Be it remembered that the Common Council met in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Monday
evening;, March 27, at 7 :35 P.M. All members were present. President McCarthy presided. The
reading of the minutes was suspended.
PETITION:
To the.Common Council City of South Bend
Gentlemen:
'The, the undersigned property owners, retition your Honorable Body to change the zoning of the
urea bounded by California_ Ave, on the Yorth, Blaine Ave. on the Hest, Van Buren St. on the
South and the alley between Cottage Grove Ave. and Harrison Ave. on the Fast, which is now
"A" height and area to "B" height and area.

hearing and recommendation. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried.

to whom was referred an ordinance requiring the Grand Trunk Western Railway Company and the
New York Central Railway Company and the New York Central Railway Company ( and /or New York Ce
tral System) to place, keep and maintain a flagman- at- '�alnut and. Ford Street crossings; and
providing for penalty.
Respectfully report that they h� ve examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordi.nanc(
should be held in the Committee of the Whole for a period of thirty days from March 20th, at
which time a recommendation will be made to the Common Council. In the meantime, the Railway
Companies are to make the improvements as suggested by the Grievance Committee on March 20th,
