COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING
MINUTES
JUNE 27th, 1939
Be it remembered that the Common Council met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council
Chambers of the City Hell,' 116ndry evening, Tune 27th, 1938 at the hour of 7:55 P. T,%
All members were present except Councilmen ralicki. Chaim. -n Goetz presidd.
RESOL??TI ON
A resolution Puthorizing the Hoard of Public forks and Safety, South Bend to file Pn gy=p�? lication
to the United States of America through the Federal Emergency Administretion of Public Y'�orks
for -, loen'and gre:nt to aid in financing the construction of Sewage Disposal Plant and Inter-
cepting Sewers Pnd designating Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co. to furnish such information
as the Government may request.
Councilman Chambers moved thet said resolution as read. go to the council favorably with the
Pmendment of chPnging name of burns & McDonnell to C. W. Cole.
Councilman Hull moved th=at said resolution be tabled. Council.ria.n Hierwvgen seconded the motion.
Motion serried.
RESOLUTION
BE IT-RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of South Bend recommend th7t the BoPrd of
Public Works and Safety instruct the City Engineer to drew an application for a. N. P. A. pro -
ject for interceibtor sewers from Logen Street to the proposed disposal plprt on the river In
the proximity of the county farm, Pnd the construction of additional sewers to relieve or re-
place those which tyre nor in existence but in.Pdequate; end

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Controller present to the Counoil =nn ordinance transferr-
ing from the contingency fund the sum of two thousend five hundred ($2,500.00) Doll,-?r^, to the
proper Pocounts to cover cost of preparing the application for P. W. A. grents end. W. P. A.
projects.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, W. Raytond Dixon of South Bend, IndianP, member of the StPte Police Force of the
Stnte of Indiene, rendered faithful and efficient service in the protection of lives and rro-
perty of people, in this city and stv -te; and
WHEREAS, on the ?7th dPy of June, 193F, officer Dixon died. from wounds, which he received -rhil e
on duty; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the valient services of officer Lixon be gratefully remembered
by the members of this Council - nd-that their condolence be forwArded to the bereaved fFmily
of the deceFsed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be adopted by the Common Co ncil Pnd spread upon
its records.
