Be it remembered th?t the Common Council. met in the Special Session in the Cour_cil Chambers
of the City Hall., Tuesday evening, May 31st, 193 , at the hour of 7:40 P. TY. Ail members
were present. President Hull presided.

CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING
OF
COMMON COUNCIL
You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority by law vested in me as
Mayor of the City 7f South Bend, of the Stpte of Indiana, a' meeting of the Common
Council of said City is hereby called to be held at the hour of 7:30 P. M., or as soon there -
efter as convenient, on Tuesday evening Mey 31st, 1939, in the Council Chambers in said City
for the purpose of considering the following ordinance:
"AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIA.TTNG THE SUM -OF TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20•,000.00) FROM THE KNDS
TO BE- RrCEIV•ED FROM THE AUDITOR OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY UNDER ORDER OF THE PORTAGE TOWNSHIP
TRUSTEE FOR FUNDS TO BE SUPPLIED TO ASSIST THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND IN THE SPON*
SORING OF PROJECTS PURSUANT TO AN AGREES ?ENT FILED WITH THIS BODY ENTERED INTO BY AND
BETWEEN THE -BOARD OF P`-BLIC WORKS AND SAFETY AND THE PORTAGE TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE AND TO BE

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: #3249
Your Committee of the whole to whom sEks referred an ordinance appropriating the sum of twenty
thousand dollars ($20,000.00) from the funds to be received from the auditor of St. Joseph
County under order of the portage township trustee for funds to be supplied to assist the
municipal city of South Bend in the sponso-rin,q of projects pursuent to an agreement filed with
this body entered into by and between the Board of Public ` "Norks and Safety and the Portage
Township Trustee and to be a fund known as the Special W. P. A. Fund.
Respectfully report that they have examined the metter and that in their opinion should be
reported favoreble to the council as amended.

ORDINANCE NO." 3249 Fs Amended
An Ordinance appropriating the sum of Twenty Thousend Dollars ($20,000.00) from the funds to
be received from the Auditor of St. Joseph County under order .,of the Portage Township Trustee
for funds to be supplied to sssist the Municipal City of South Bend in the sponsoring of pro-
jects pursuant town agreement filed with this body entered into by and between the Board of
Public Works and Safety and- the Portage. Township Trustee and to be a fund known as the Special..
W. P. A. Fund.
The ordinance was given its third reading by title and was placed upon its pa.ssegre and passed

by the following_ Vote: Hull, Goetz, Bierwagen, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen and Palicki. 7 ayes.
James and Fish — 2 nays.. 'Ordinance adopted as amended.
Councilman James moved that the following_ amendment be inserted as section III in the ebove
ordinance "It is specifically stipulated that the Controller shall provide the Council with a
monthly statement of expenditures and commitments made from all funds for W. P. A. projects
according to project:." Counci1Tian Fish seconded the motion.. Motion carried.
%here being no further business Councilmen Bierws en moved to e.dj -ourn. Councilman Rasmussen
seconded the.motion. Motion carried. Councilmen adjourned at 9:00 P. M.
