Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met inthe
Committee of the whole in the council chambers of the City hall, Nedr_esday evening, September
29th, 1937, at the hour of 7:30 P. M. All'members were present except Councilmen Goetz and
James. Councilmen Hull presided.

A special meeting of the Committee of the Whole has been called by Mr. Hull for Wednesday
September 29, 19379 at 7 :30 o'clock to consider the Taxicab Ordinance.

Gentlemen:
We the undersigned taxicab operators in the City of South Bend, have acrefully investigated and
condidered a proposed amendment to the present ordinance regulating taxicab operation in the
city.
It is our opinion that the present texicab-ordinance is entirely satisfactory, and that at the
present time there is no need for the proposed amendment.

The followiniz report of the Traffic Committee was read:

Honorable Body City Council
South Bend, Indiana
Meeting as Committee of Thole
Following are the facts found by the traffic committee with reference to ordinance No. 3231,
regarding operation of Taxicnbb:
Out of 15 licensed taxicab operators in South Bend, 14 are satisfied with the present ordir..aance..
Out of a membership of 136 taxicab drivers, we find many who Are satisfied with the present
ordinance.
We also find that 65 per cent of the taxi users are satisfied with the present ordinance.
After consulting with operators and.taxi drivers also a personal research with users, we re-
commend that ordir_erc e No. 3231 be tabled.

Councilmen Rasmussen moved to table ordinance No. 3271. Councilman Kerner seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
There being no further business, Councilmen Kerner moved to adjourn. Councilman Rasmussen
seconded the motion. Motion carried. Committee of the whole adjourned at 9 :30 P. I'l.
