HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-09-37 Council Meeting MinutesREGULAR MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 9th, 1937 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the-City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the regular session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Monday evening, August 9th, 1937, at the hour of 7 :45 P. M. All members were present except Councilman Goetz. President Fish pres- iaed. Councilman Hull moved to disperse with the reading of the minutes for the last few meet- ings. Councilman Chambers meconded the motion. Motion carried. Pension Fund of the City Government of the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year be- ginning January 1, 1938, and ending December 31, 1939, including all outstanding claims and obligations, and fixing a time when the same shall take effect. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilmen Chambers was referred to the Committee of the Whole end also that s public hearing be held on .August 23rd, 1937. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilman Chambers was referred to the Committee of the Whole and also that a r.ublic hearing be held on August 23rd., 1937. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Ordinance was given -its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilman Null was referred to the Committee of the Whole and also that a public hearing be held on August 23rd, 1937. Councilman Kerner seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilmen Chambers was referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 23rd, 1937. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Councilmen James moved to amend Councilman Chambers' motion to read that said ordinance be re- ferred back to the Finance Committee. Councilman Bierwagen seconded the motion. Councilmen Hull moved for roll call on the amendment. Hull, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen tend Palicki - 5 Rays. Bierwagen, James and Fish - 3 ayes. Motion on amendment lost. Councilman Hull moved for roll cell on original motion. Hull, Bierwagen, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen, and Palicki - 6 ayes. James and Fish - 2 nays. Ordinance goes to the Committee of the Whole for public he ==ring on August 23rd, 1937• ORDINANCE NO. 3229 An Ordinance fixing the Tax Levy for the year 1938 for the Municipal Civil City of South Bend, Indiana. The Ordinance was given its first reading_ by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilmen Hull was referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 23rd, 10,37. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion. Councilman James moved to amend Councilman Chambers' motion to read that said -ordinnn_ce be re- ferred back to the Finance Committee. Councilman Bierwagen seconded. the motion. Councilman Hull moved for roll call on the amendment. Hull, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen, and Palicki — 5.nays. Bierwagen, Jemes and Fish - 3 ayes. Motion lost. Councilman Hull moved for roll call on the original motion. Hull, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen end Palicki.- 5 ayes. Bierwagen, James and Fish - 3 nays. Ordinance goes to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 23rd, 1937• ORDTITAYCE. N0. 3229 An Ordinance appropriating the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) from the General Fund of the Q`ity of South Bend to Account L -10 under the Engineer's Office for gasoline for the balance of the year 1.937. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilmen Rasmussen was referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 23rd, 1937. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business, Councilman Chambers moved to adjourn. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried.
