M. All members were present except Councilmen Goetz and Councilman James. Councilmen. Chambers moved that the rF`ding of the minutes for the last meeting be dispensed with. Councilman Rasmussen seconded the motion_. Motion carried. Bresident Fish presided. PETITIONS: South Bend, Indiena July 26, 1937 TO :THE HONORABLE 14MFTBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND CITY COUNCIL GENTLDMEN: We the undersigned property owners on Portage Ave. thCnk the members of your Honorable Body for the cooperation you heve given us in bringing Port =ge Ave. into first cless condition. So that the motoring public can use it ega.in. There is one more thing that we wish to ask for and that is to also repair the viaduct over the New York Central tracks. If it is in any way possicle we would like to have a new concrete viaduct , as the present one spoils the eppeprence of the neighborhood. The New York Central Railwpy Co. should coopere +e in making this chpnge. That way this project mould be completed all at once. It is therefore the prayer of the undersigned. th?t your Honorable Council sees to mpke this im- provement. The Crdina'hce was p7iven its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on motion of Councilmen Paull was referred-to the Con-,ittee of the Whole and teat each councilman be furnished with a copy of said ordinance. Councilmen Rasmussen seconded the motion. Motion carried. As requested by Councilman Chambers at the meeting of July 12th, 1937, 11ayor Freyermuth and Chief Lane were present to explain the enforcement of the Traffic Ordinance No' 3209.
