Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indian.?, met in the
regular session in the Council Chambers of the city hall, Monday evening, July 12th, 1937, at
the hour of 7:50 P. M. All members were present except Councilmen Fish and Goetz. Vice
President James presided. Council 4greed to dispense with the reading of the mi.nates for the.
last meetinp-.
REPORT
The Street Commissioners report of the work done by his departments during the month of
June, 1937.
Councilman Chambers moved that said report be accepted and placed on file.
Councilman Rasmussen seconded the motion. Motion carri.ed.

Petition for change of zoning classification of Lot ##48 Oakside 2nd edd. from D, lIQ7ht
ind.ustriAl to E, hervy industrial district, was considered. by the City Plan Commission nt their
regular meeting on July 1.. This change is not e.- roved.
The ecdompenyi.ng map shows the immediate neighborhood, of the lot 45, which is indicated
by red markings. Ali other buildings fronting on Mein St. ere private residences.

ORDINANCE NO. 3217
An Ordinance appropriating the sum of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) from the General
Fund of the City of South Bend to the Board of Public Works, One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
for the item of refunds of awards end indemnities and One Hundred Eifty Dollars ($150.00) for
Publication of Notices.
An Ordinance was given its first reeding by title, its second reading in full and on
motion of Councilman Hull was referred to the Committee of the Whole and also that a public
hearing be held July 26th, 1937. Councilmen Kerner seconded the motion_. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE N0. 3215
An Ordinance appropriating the sum of Ten Hundred Twenty Dollars ($1020.00) from the General
Fund of the City of South Bend to Account D -4 under the City Treasurer 't's-- -0fftce for the payment
of Special Barrett Law Clerks for the balance of the year 1937.
An'Ordtnance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full anad on motion
of Councilman Hull was.referred to the Committee of the Whole and also that a public hearing be
held July 26th, 1937. Councilman Rasmussen seconded the motion. Motion.carried.
ORDINANCE N0. 21
An Ordinance appropriating the sum of.Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) from the General
Fund of the City of South Bend to the Account for Medical and Surgical Services, the same being;
Account Q --13 —A under the Fire Department of the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend.
An Ordinance was iziven its first reading by title, its second reading in full end on motion
of Councilman Hull wes referred to the Committee of the Thole and also that a public hear.inR be
held July 26th, 1937. Councilman Bierwngen seconded the motion. Motion carried..
Councilmen Chambe s moved that the Mayor and the Chief of Police be reailested. to come in on July
26th to explain why the 2A.M. to 5A.M Parking Ordinance is not enforced. Councilman Rasmussen
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Vice President James suggested that Mr. 'Neer be present at the meeting of July 26th also.
Vice President James asked Councilman Hull to take the chair for a few minutes.
Councilman James moved to amend Mr. Chambers motion to read that Mr. Weer also be present July
26th, in regard to 2A.M. to 5A.M. parking on streets. Councilman_ Kerner seconded the motion.
Motion_ carried.
Vice President James presiding again.
Councilman Kerner moved 'that the City. Attorney draw an ordinance that in order to safeguard the
public. at races held at Playlend Park that they pay a $100.00 license fee a. day end elso build a
retaining call. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion.
Councilmen, Hull moved to amend Councilmen Ker.ners motion to reed that they either build. a retain -
ing wall or sell tickets only for the stands and that they also pay a $100.00 license fee a day
to safeguard the public. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Councilman Bierwagen moved to adjourn. Councilman Kerner sec-
onded the motion. Motion carried. Council adjourned e.t 5:25 P. M.
