HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-09-36 Council Meeting MinutesREGULAR MEETING MINUTES NOVEMBER 9th, 1936 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana., met•in the Regular Session in the Council Chambers of-the City Hall, Monday evening, November 9th, 1936, at the hour of 7:45 P. M. All members were present..,.-President Fish presided. Councilman Goetz moved that the reading of the minutes for the last meeting be dispensed with. Councilman Bier - wagen seconded the motion. The.larger portion of this addition was annexed to the City since the zoning law was enacted and this ordinance is.for the purpose of zoning the unzoned portion and changing the i c7_essif4cation on certain parts of lots so that no lot will be found in two use districts. Nuner et. al. for change of zoning class- ification of property on Park Ave. from LaMonte Terrace to Manitau Place which has beer referred back to the City Plan Commission for reconsideration - we wish to report that inasmuch as the Board of Zoning Appeals has sdjusted the particular case in question, the principal petitioners have asked me to present to the Council their request to have the aforesaid petition withdrawn. The South Shore, Railroad is taking privilege in spotting coal cers on siding north side of Orange Street between Olive end Freemont Street, which was never been used for this purpose of unloading coal. The South Snore is spotting coel cars for C. W. Peterson 2611 W. Linden Ave., who is affiliated with the South Bend Coal and Wood of the seme address. Notion carried. REPORT OF STREET COMMISSIONER' Reports of W P. A. activities on projects under supervision of the Street Department for the months of April, May, June, July, August and September, 1936. Also a report of the work done by the Street end Sewer.Depertments'during the month of August and September, 1936.E Council accepted said reports end ordered them to be placed on file. ORDINANCE NO. 3199 _ An Ordinance appropriating the sum of $50.00 from the- General Fund of the City of South Bend to account T -7 under the Board of Health for traveling expenses in declaring an emergency. The Ordinance was given its third .reading, by title and was placed upon its passage and pass- ed by the following vote: Hull, Goetz, Bierwagen, Kerner, Chambers, Rasmussen end Pa.licki - 7 eyes. James and Fish - 2 neys. Ordinance adopted. ORDINANCE NO. .3191 An Ordinance amending certain parts of Ordinance No. 2331 commonly known a.s the Zoning Ordinence. Councilman Chambers moved that :Cauncilma.n James have the permission-to present said ordinance. Councilman Goetz seconded the motion. Motion carried. An Ordinance appropriating the sum of One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars from the General Fund of the City of South Bend to B -15, the same being the account for new Traffic Lights, under the Board of Safety of the,City of South Bend, Indiana. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its eecond reading in full and on motion of Councilman Chambers was referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration and also that a. public hearing by held November 23rd, 1936. Councilman James seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business, Councilmen Hull moved to adjourn. Councilman James seconded the motion. Motion carried. Council adjourned at 8:30 P. M- ATTES� RSSOLUTION: RESOLUTION CITY - BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, St CITY of! Indinme, that the City Controller of said City is hereby authorized and dire° r ected to pay on the 20th day of December, 1936, all monthly salaries of off- - icials and employees of said City, becoming due for the month of December, 1936.
