Gentlemen: My attention has been called to an effort thet is being made to inaugurate a system of-Motor vehicle inspection by the City. I heartily endorse this movement, because I believe many accidents ere due to faulty brakes and imperfect lighting on automobiles, which would be corrected if such a plan were put into effect. RESOLUTION THFRFAS the Federal Government has made formal announcement through the press that applications for public works improvement will not be accepted; and 1" �FH7Ri'',AS the city has submitted a. list of projects to the State Planning Boargi totalling some $25,000.00 which list includes both Waterworks Imrrovement and.. Sewage Disposal; and WHEREAS Our Honorable Mllayor has corredtly stated that the only projects the City of South Bend (due to its inability to issue general tax obligati,n bonds) can consider, are revenue produc- ing projects.; and. WHEREAS Waterworks.Improvements and Sewage Disposal projects are the only revenue rroducing projects irn said list; and WHEREAS these projects can be built with the r'ederal grant of 30% and. revenue bonds to be retired from the operating income of the plants; end WHEREAS a Sewage Disposal Plant with the necessary Sewers would provide work for `some thousand men at prevailing wage scales and under normal working conditions; and WHEREAS the Anti Stream Pollution Bill will probably force the construction of this improvement by the City of South Bend; and WHEREAS if the City of South Bend does not proceed with these revenue producing projects (which � are the only one:. that can be considered becauae,,of the restrictions placed on the city as clear ly outlined by our Honorable Mayor) organized labor, who,se employment has been particularly affected by the lack of public improvement work, will be deprived of many jobs rightfully due; now therefore BE IT RESOLVED that The Barbers of South Bend urge you to make an application for a Sewage Disposal Plant and that copies of this resolution be sent to the local newspapers. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, ALITIGHTY GOD, in his all knowing wisdom has seen fit to call Frank H. Goetz from the ranks of citizenry of South Bend., and WHEREAS, the Goetz family have always clayed a leading part in our civic affairs, and the late Frank H. Goetz, was well and. favorably known in this community, and 'SHEREAS, this loss is a distict lose to this community, THEREFOR, be it resolved thLt the Common Council of the City of South Bend,. Indiana, send., to the family of the deceased., its expression of sorrow. And_ that a copy of this resolution be spread on the minutes.of said council.
