Your Committee of the Whole to whom wps referred Pn Ordinance ratifying a contr2ct entered into by and between the City of South Bend, Indiana through its Board of Public Works and the Indiana Pnd Mxichigan Electric Compeny on April 15, 1935. An Ordinance trensferrin the sum of $577.50,from the Police Salaries Fund P -1 to the Salar- ies and Wages Regular Fund Q— for the Employment of e stenographer in the Board of Public Works end Safety Office and appropriating the sum of $577.50 from said Fund Q -4 for said purpose. Also Transferring the sum of $300.00 from the Police Salaries Fund Account P -1 to the Police Travelling Expenses Account P -7 for the purpose of Defraying expenses of Police Officers Trips on behalf of said City, end appropriating the sum of $300.00 from said Account P -7 for seid purpose. Also transferring the sum of 0200,00 from the-Fire Department Fund for other Equip- ment, Account Q -17 to Account for Travelling, in the Fire Department Q- 15— A,.and appropriating the sum of $200.00 from said Account Q -15 —A for seid purpose. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILTAN FRED G. KERNER. Authorizing the sale of personal property belonging to the City of South Bend, and, finding that the property is worth less then $100.00, and authorizing the Board of Public Safety, through its Officers, to make sale of seid property at the most available price thereof to the highest and best bidders for cash and to turn the proceeds thereof into the General Funds of said City. R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the last codification of City Ordinances of the City of South Bend., was prepared in 1916, and, WHEREAS, it is almost - impossible to determine what amendments or additional ordinances or repeels have been made, relative to any subject matter by the Common Council of South Bend, subsequent to 1916, other than by an extreordinary amount of searching,-and, WHEREAS, an examination of ordinances in effect under the codification made in 1916, may disclose many that are obsolete and are not enforceable: .THERE70RE BE IT RESOLVED that the Committee on Ordinances of the Common Council of South Bend, together with the City Attorney, m2ke an examinatinn and codification of all ordinances now in effect and make reco-;menda..tions to this Common Council of any ordinances, which, in thei .opinion, should bd:,reneeled, amended or otherwise chenged, for the benefit of public health, safety, economy end general efficiency. R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, an examination of the Annual Reports of the Citv Comptroller of South Fiend for the years 1926 to 1934 inclusive, discloses that there has been a failure upon the part'of a, numtxer of businesses to pay any - l-ic.ense fee, which are believed to be subject to annual license fee, according to Fees in Force per Codification of Ordinances as of 1916, and, WHEREAS the City of South Bend is in dire need.of additional funds; and, WHERF'AS these businesses which are believed not to have paid annual license fees, are subject to inspection and other special expense due to the nature of their business. THER.EFORF BE IT RESOLVED that this Common Council instruct the Committee on Fees and- Salaries to make Pn investigption and examination of the fees which should have been collected by the City, from such businesses according to ordinances now in force, and make report of thei findings to the Common Council.
