PETITION: Asking the abatement of a Nuisance. of the City.of South Bend, Indiana, met in the CityHall, Monday evening April 8th, 1935 present: President Hull presided. and.on Motion of Councilman Hull were accepted 0 We, the undersigned property owners end residents on North Scott Street Pnd territory adjacent theretcS respectfully petition the City Council of South Bend, Indiana, to enact legls�ation that will prevent the Fetterling Trucking Company, because of the nature of its business, from annoying said residents end causing injury in the following manner._ Trucks entering and leaving the premises of--said Fetterling Trucking Comp^ny Pt its place of business in the Five Hundred Block (500) on North Scott Street Pre operated by the drivers at ell hours of the night, when people who work need sleep, with open mufflers at times arousing; everyone. An Ordinance appropriating_ the sum of $450.00 for the purpose; of ppying for an extra Clerk in the Controller's Office Pnd the further sum of $4,500.00 for the purpose of satisfying a Judgment in the Marshall Circuit Court against the City of South Bend in favor of the Reith- Riley Construction Company. An Ordin•=.nce approving a certain Sales ContrAct entered into between the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana 2nd the Elgin Street Sweeper Company of Elfin, Illir_oi Dated April First, Nineteen - Hundred Thirty - Five. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second-reading in full and on Motion o f C u - o ncilman Goetz was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public He =ring be held April 22nd, 1935 at 7 :30 d'clock P. ORDINANCE-NO, An Ordinance amending Sections 6, 11, 17, 24, 26, 29, and 46 of an Ordinance Numbered 2692, being ?n Ordinance regulating the production, grading, labeling, handling, pasteurizatinn distribution and sale of milk, cream end certain mik products and providing for issuing per- mits end licenses therefor. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in 'full and on Motion of Councilmen Chambers was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also Board of Health to be present at meeting. Motion carried. RESOLUTION. RESOLUTION Whereas the Congress of the United States has designated October the eleventh of etch year as a National Holid ?y for the purpose of commemmorating General Pul ^ski, a distinguished, soldier of the Revolutionary War; and, Whereas a l?rge proportion of the Citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana are of Polish extraction end, Where?s Representative Samuel B. Pettengill, of the Third Congressional District materia.113 aided in procuring the passage of the Resolution designating October eleventh of each year as r National Holidry. Now Therefore Be It Resolved by the Common Council of the 1!unicipal City of South Bend that we do hereby commend the Congress of the United Stetes for its recognition of the Va.li2nt Service rendered-by the distinguished Polish General. And Be It further Resolved that a copy of the resolution be forrarded to the Honorable Samuel B. Pettengill end I. K. Werwinskt as 2 token of appreciation of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana for their services in lending_ aid and support to the 2d.option of the Resolution by the Congress of the United Stetes. Mr. Anderson explained the sevings that will be made under the new lighting contract Mr. Anderson also stated that he end Mr. Quells were going to Fort Wayne and Gary to make a study, of their elect -ric rates and invited the-Council to go with them..
