KERNER.- WHEREAS, the Nature Department of the Progress Club of the City of South Bend, through the assistance of the local papers of the city of SouthnBend, has sponsored a contest to designate a flower to be the official flower of the city of South Bend, and WHEREAS, the said Nature Department of the Progress Club, as a result of said contest, ha requested the designation of the Zinnia as the official flower of the City of South Bend., and WHEREAS, it is the will of this council that the request be favorably considered and acte upon. Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED) By the Common Council of the City of South Bend, that the Zinnia be, and the same is de0lared to be-the official flower of the city of South Bend; and be it further RESOLVEZOhat a cettified-`.cop3L of this resolution be sent to said Nature Department of the Progress-Club, and that they be spread upon the records of this Council* On Motion of Councilman Goetz the Resolution. vas adopted. FREYERMUTH. .J­ X Mayor George Wo.Freyermuth read his Message to the Common Council concerning the General Finances of the.,.City, Allo gave the needs in equipment and supplies for the various department of the lfttolfal,Otty of Soutg.Bend., Indiana. ( See file's for Message On Motion of Councilman Chambers the Message was referred to the Committee of the Whole,, T� that the letter from the Street Commissioner be referred to the Committee on Streets, Al and Bridges and also that each Comm6ttee be instructed to report at the next Committee of the Whole Meeting.
