October 22nd, 1934, REGULAR MEETING. MINUTES. Be it Remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Regular Session in the Council Chambers- - -of the City Hall, Monday evening October 22nd, 1934 at the hour of 9 :00 P. M. All Members present exceptbaouncilman Nelson and Gustint Vice - President Altfeld presided. The Minutes of the previous meeting was read and on Motion of Councilman Hull were accepted as read. Motion carried. PETITION. TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INFO We., the undersigned workers of Shift #2 of Dept. 50, Expermmental Division of the Bendix Products Corporation, South Bend, Indiana; do on this date, October 19, 1934, petition you gentlemen as our Councilmen and Municipal lawmakers to not allow us to become forgotten men while deciding the important que -stiOn of opening and closing time for places of business. retailing beer., We are trusting you will act in.all fairness toward us, as we get off of. work at 1 :30 A. M. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. An-Ordinance appropriatiang the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars (01,500.00) from the General Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana, unto the Board of Public Works of said City of South Bend, Indiana. The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on Motion of Councilman Goetz was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public Hearing be held November 19th, 1934 -at 7 :30 o'clock 4* M. Motion carried._ There was a general discussion concerning the increase -of wages for the FERA workers, an FERA worker being present , explained the condition and the reasons for the increase , Mr. Harry Lewis , also spoke in the interest of the FERA Wormers. On Motion of Councilman Goetz the Council wished to go on record as being in favor of the increase in wages, also that the City Clerk write to the farious; officials in charge of this work. Motion carried.' On Motion.of Councilman Cripe the Council adjourned at 9 :25 o'clock P. M. Motion carried. ATTEST PROVED CLE VICE – PRESIDENT.
