MINUTES.
Be it: Remembered that the Common7bCouncil of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met ft the
Regular Session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Monday evening July 9th, 1934 at
the hour of 8 :20 o'clock P. M. All Members present except Councilman Nelson and Rokop. #max

Xixmt Vice- President Grzeskowiak presided. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and on
Motion of Councilman Hull were accepted as read. Motion-carried.

On Motion of Councilman Hiss the Card of Thanks was accepted and ordered to be placed on file.'

COMMUNICATION.
Crusade Lodge of Knights of Pythias
- South Bend, Indiana, July 9, 1934.
To the Honorable Common Council, South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen:
The Lodge of Knights of Pythias of South Bend, Indiana, plans to raffle an automobile
for the benefit of a Children's Home. The raffle will close the 28th day of July, 1934, but
before it can - begin, The Lodge would like to have the permission of the City of South Bend to
display the.Chevrolet:Sedan before the public on some street within the Downtown district.'
The Lodge would appreciate the permission of the Council, to whom it was referred by.the
Board of Public Safety for consideration . The Board of JDSafety has given their permission to
alternate the display_ of the car in front of Kresge's and Woolworth's Five and Ten Ten Stores.

On Motion of Councilman Oakley The Crusade Lodge of Knights of Pythias' was given permission`•:
to display cars as they requested. Motion carried.

ORDIATANCE NO 064.
An Ordinance Transferring certain slims from Subdivision in the City Clerks Office, the
City Controller's Office and the Offices of the Board of Public Safety to other .subdivisions
in the same* Department.
The Ordinance was given its third reading by title, and was placed upon its passage and
passed by the following vote: Whiteman, Goetz, Hull, Jaworski, Altfeld, Hiss, Oakley,
Grzeskowiak, Cripe and Gtistin, Ayes-- 1i0, .Nays 00' Ordinance adopted.
ORDINANCE'NO.
An Ordinance Transferring the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) from Salagy account
#S -1 to Supplies- General Account #S-12 in the EbBotrical Department of the City of outh
Bend, Indiana.
The Ordinance was given its first reading *-title, its second reading in-full and on
Zotion of Councilman Altfeid was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public
Hearing be held July 23rd, 193+ at 7:30 o'clock P: M. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN I. M. GRIPE.
WHEREAS, Howard C. Magner was,.for a number of years, a member of the Police Department
of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and during this time rendered faithful and efficient
service in the protection of liven and property of people in this city;-and,
• WHEREAS, on thr 30th day of June, 1934 officer Wagner, was z killed in line of duty in
apprehending one of the bandits' in connection with the hold-up of The Merchants National
Bank,- of South Bend, Indiana:'
THEREFORE, BE -IT RESOLVED BY THE _MEMBERS OF THE "COMMON- COUNUIL of the City of South
Bend, Indiana, that the valient services of officer Magner be gratefully remembered by the
members of.this Council and that their condolence be forwarded to the bereaved family of
the deceased.
BE IT FURTHER-'RESOLVED that this resolution be adopted by the Common Council and
spread upon its records.
On Motion of Councilman Cripe the Resolution was adopted by a standing vote 'of the
Councilman. Motion carried
On Motion of Councilman Gustin the Council adjourned at 8t50 o'clock PO M. Motion
carried.
