Be it Remembered that the _Common Council of the City of South Bend, State :of 4ndiana, met in the Regular Session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Monday evening March 14th, 19`22 at the hour of 7:x-5 o'clock P. M.;t All Members present, which were as follows: Councilsen,Nels n, Whiteman, Rokop, Goetz, Hull, Jaworski, Altfeld, Hiss, Oakley, Grzeskowiak, Gripe and Gustin,. President Nelson presided.' The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and on motion of Councilman Hull were referred to the Committee on the Inspection and Supervision of Minutes.` Motion carried.' COMMUNICATION. February 13, 1932•' To the Honorable City Council, of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The undersigned, entertainment committee, of the St. Joseph County Voiture #249, 40 -8 of the,. American Legion, for and intbehalf of themselves and said Voiture, respectfully request the Honerabie_Council_ that special permission be granted them to hold a Spring-Festival on and between the second and fourteenth days of May, 1932, said Festival being conducted by the J 04 Weer Shows, and the same being under polixce.supervision, and said committee further shows to the • Honorable Council that the said J. C.' Weer is a residen3ot of South Bend, living at 930 E. Gentlemen: As owners of the Southern Hotel property, 808 Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, we respectfully call your attenti®n:to the need-of at least two street lamps in the 100 block west - Tutt Street, the block in which the Southern Hotel is located.` Our Lessee, Mr. E. Thiel, now operating the Southern Hotel, inforips us that these lamps are vexy necessary as prospective customers hesitate to patronize the hotel beczause it is located on a dark street for fear of holdups. This is a severe handicap to place on an hotel operator, and we hope it will be possible for tht.city to improve this condition by installing two or more additional lights on Tutt Street. NOTICE OF DETERMINATION TO ISSUE GENERAL PURPOSE BONDS BY THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF-SOUTH BEND,INDI ]notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the Municipal City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, that the Common Council and Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Ordinance No.' 2975 duly passed on then5th., day of February, 1932,and approved by the Mayor of said city on the said 8th.,.-day of February. 1932, have determined to issue General Purpose Bon of said city in the principal sum of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400 000.00), said bonds to bear interest at the rate of not to exceed, five and one -half percent.(; -%) per annum and to mat as follows: First $100,000.00 on July 2nd ;',1937,; second $100,000.00 in series of $20,000.00 ea year beginning on July 1, 1942; third $1009000000 io series of $20,000.00 each year beginning o July 1, 1947, and the remaining $100,000.00 in series of $20,000.00 each year beginning on July 1, 1952. The proceeds of said bonds shall be used for the payment of costs to the said city for tra elevation. Ten (10) or more taxpayers, other than those who pay poll tax only, who feel themselves aggrieved by such determination may appeal to the State Board of Tax Commissioners for further action by filing a petition therefor with the St: Joseph County Auditor on or before the expiration of twenty -nine (29) days from February 9,1932. Motion carried. 'BY RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED COUNCILMAN JULIUS ALTFELD. WHEREAS, August Bailey departed this life.on.the 2nd day of March, 1932; and, WHEREAS, the deceased was formerly a member of the Common Council of.the City of South Bend, Indiana, and at-the time of his death held a responsible position in the employ of said City: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED .:BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that ire deepljc regret the passing of the deceased and extend to his bereaved family the condolence of this Council Be it further resolved that z a opy of this resolution , x certified by the City Clerk, be sent to the members of the deced s family:' On Motion of Councilman Hull the Resolution was adopted by a standing vote of the Council:' Motion carried.' RESOLUTION . INTRODUCED-BY COUNCILMAN JULIUS ALTFELD. - • WHEREAS, on the 27th day of February, 1932, Lloyd Thompson, a patrolmen -of the Police Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana, lost his life in the faithful performance of h s duty. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMOIT COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that we deeply regret the loss of a faithful public servant and honor-his memory in the fact that he gave his life in the performance of his duty :' Be it further solved that the condolence of this Council be extended . to the debreaved family of the deced and that a copy of this resolution, dzly certified by the City Clerk, be forwarded to them: On Motion of Councilman Altfeld, the Resolution was adopted by a Standing vote of the Council Motion carried On Motion of Councilman Rokop. the Council adjourned at 5:25 o'clock Pe M., Motion carried.
