President Nelson-presided' The Minutes 6f--the reevious meeting were read and on Motion of Councilman Hull were referred to the Committee a the Inspection and Supervision of Minutes. Motion carried.' ETITION. the Honorable Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,. This is to advise you that we, the undersigned, licensed taxicab drivers of the City , wof-- auth Bend, have heretofore submitted to your Honorable Body a Petition signed by us, and -'` )llowing that petition a certain ordinance was presented to your Honorable Body, whio:yh - rdinance would require every taxicab in the city to be operated under a taxi - meter. This is to further advise your Honorable body that we and each of us are urgently oppose o this ordinance and earnestly beg the City Council to not consider the same.' Having in mind. the public good, we now request your Honorable Body to permit taxicab Aerations to continue under the ordinance now in force. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN JOSEPH S. JAWORSKI. WHEREAS, the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend, Indiana, did, o .n:the 15th day of January, 1932, adopt a resolution whereby it authorized the transfer to the generE fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the amount of thirty thousand 0303,000. 00) out of 5 funds accumulated by reason of the tax levy for the Department of Public:; Parks included4 imp the levy of the civil city of South Bend, Indiana; and, WHEREAS, on account of the general_ depression the said City has occasion for the use of said amounts until the first installments of tax for the current year are paid. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that such transfer-as above set forth be accepted and be paid-:into the general fund of said City for uses as authorized therefrom until August 19 1932, and that the said. Department lof Public Parks be paid interest thereon as would accrue to said Department during such time if same remained in the public depositgory wherenit is now invested.. Dn Motion of Councilman Oakley the Resolution was referred -to the Committee of the Whole.' Notion carried. RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN GEO. F. HULL.; WHEREAS, God has called to his reward. H.' Monroe Hardman a citizem of the City of South Bend, who was esteemed and behoved by many of its people, and WHEREAS, The deceased was for may years a member of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, , THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by this Common Council that the members thereof express their deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased on account of their bereavement, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded t by the City Clerk to the deceased's family.' HULL.. WHEREAS, God has called to his reaward Herman F. Lang a citizen of the City of II' South Bend, who was esteemed and beloved by many of its people, and WHEREAS) The deceased was for many years a member of the Common Y Council of the City of .)South Bend, _ 'THEREFORE; -Be it Resolved by this Common Council that the members thereof express their deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased on account of thekr bereavement, and j that a copy of this resolution be forwarded by the City Clerk to the deceased's- family: On Motion of Councilman Cripe the Resolution bg was adopted by a Standingn vote of the Council. Motion carried. Mr. Frank Murray spoke a few remarks to the Members of the Common Council in regard to their co-- operation with the County Council of Ste" Joseph County., Indiana, in urging a !, Spocial Session of Legislature for the State of Indiana for the help of the poor relief. Mr.' Lewis of the Labor.unioni spoke on helphing the. taysd un- employed by giving them work with pay.' On Motion of Councilman Hull the Council adjourned at 8;25 o'clock P.
