May 4th, 1931. Meeting of the Committee of the Whole. -�
At there are no MinAtes,kept of the Committee of the Whole Meeting , I will copy the
following Resolution that was adopted at said Meeting on May 4th, 1931 at 7 :30 o'clock
P;l M;' in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, South Bend, Indiana.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The earthly career of Samuel J. Lenon, Chief of the City oi'South Bend,
has this day been terminated in death; and
WHEREAS, Chief Lenom was for a number of years a member of the Police Department
of the City of South Bendy and has since the first of January, •1930
occupied the-Office of Chief of Police of our City, in which capacity
-he served earnestly and diligently and gave his best efforts to the
fulfillment of the many duties that devolved upon him;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY__THE_..MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, meeting as a committee of the whole, that out of
respect to the memory of Chief Lenon and the bereaved members of his
family, who survive him, that the meeting of this committee be now
adj ourned'
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,,That the flags of the City Hall be placed at half—
staff until after the funeral of the deceased; that a copy ofthis
Resolution be duly recorded in the proper records of the City of South
Bend, and another copy, duly certified by the Clerk, be forwarded to
the bereaved members of Chief Lenon's family.`
