Dear Council Members:
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
June 7, 1978
219/284 -9742
Discovery Hall Museum was awarded a planning grant in 1977 by
the National Endowment for the Humanities for a variety of
research projects. The total amount of the grant was $5,799,
to be paid to the City by NEH in two installments. The first
installment was received by the City and appropriated by the
City Council in January of this _year. The second installment,
in the amount of $2,899.50, has now been received from NEH
and I am requesting that the Council adopt an ordinance ap-
propriating these funds to be used for the completion of this
grant project.
Specifically, these funds are being used for consultant ex-
penses, including a half -time research assistant for six
months, research trips by staff members and other expenses
relating to the purposes of the grant.
Should you have any questions regarding this grant, I will
be happy to answer them.
