AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES
OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, WITHIN THE DIVISION OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE YEAR FROM JULY 1,
1978 TO JUNE 30, 1979.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA:
SECTION I. That effective July 1, 1978 to June 30, 1979, the

Members of the Common Council:
Enclosed please find the salary ordinance for employees
of Community Development for the Fiscal year July 1978 -
June 1979. It is being submitted for first reading July 10,
so that second reading, the public hearing and passage may
take place prior to August 1, as required by Indiana State
Statute.
As you review the Ordinance, you will note that salaries
have been proposed at an increase of 8.6 %, with all full time
employees receiving a minimum increase of $880.00. You will
also note that there are exceptions in the ordinance which
are based on personnel evaluation, job market comparisons
and increased work responsibility.
As related to the public last week, those hourly increases
for Teamster employees are based on a two year package, with
a 55 cent increase in 1979, distributed on the basis of 30
cents January 1, 1979 and 25 cents July 1, 1979.
