AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $395,000.00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO
AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC
WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that additional funds are needed by the Bureau of Streets to ensure
the Department's ability to properly perform its functions,
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The sum of $395,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the
Federal Assistance Grant, commonly known as General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public Works and
will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the fulfill-
ment of all statutory requirements for emergency appropriations.

The attached ordinance requests a total of $395,000 from the General
Revenue Sharing Account. These monies will be utilized to address
contractual and material costs associated with the 1978 Street
Maintenance Program.
A complete listing of all improvements proposed under the 1978 pro-
gram has been submitted under separate cover at an earlier date.
