AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $18,085.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR
VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINIS-
TERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS
BUREAU OF EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds are needed by the Bureau of Employment
and Training to administer the 1978 Summer Environmental
Clean -up Program. It is to provide support services in the
areas of Equipment Repair, Truck Leasing, Gasoline, Repair
Parts, and Program Equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $18,085 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1978 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund,
commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Bureau of
Employment and Training and will be distributed as set
forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council,
approval by the Mayor, and the fulfillment of all statutory
requirements for emergency appropriations.

This Ordinance is for the appropriation of $18,085 for the 1978
Summer Environmental Clean -Up Program. This program is expected
to employ 96 youths for a period of 8 weeks each. The salaries
for these people are being paid from C.E.T.A. It also is to
provide support services in the areas of equipment repair, truck
leasing, _gasoline, repair parts and program equipment.
We ask for your support for this Ordinance in order to provide
the tools for this valuable clean -up program.
