AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $36,200.00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS
GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS FIRE
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, THROUGH ITS FIRE
DEPARTMENT.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional funds.are needed by the Fire Department to
insure its ability to perform its functions during the year 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $36,200.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1978 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund commonly
known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropria-
tion is to be administered by the South Bend Fire Department and
will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from.and after its passage by the Common Council, approval
by the Mayor and the fulfillment of all statutory requirements for
emergency appropriations.

There will be presented for your consideration at first reading on
April 10, 1978, an ordinance appropriating $36,200.00 from the
General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation, if passed,
will replace monies taken out of the budget during the 1978 budget
preparation.
Of these monies, $4,000.00 would be used for temporary modifications
to old Station 8 on Olive Street while the Western Avenue Station
is being rebuilt.
Also $32,200.00 will be placed in Other Equipment. These funds
will be used for Fire hose replacement, Ambulance equipment,
mattresses, Training Manuals, and a new air compressor, and
breathing appartus.
