AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $17,620.00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO
AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE 1978 ETHNIC
FESTIVAL, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN
RESOURCES.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes
the importance of ethnic groups in the history of the community and
wishes to encourage the promotion of the community's ethnic heritage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $171620.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1978 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly
referred to as General Revenue Sharing, for the 1978 Ethnic Festival.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Human
Resources and will be distributed as set forth below:

Dear Council Members:
Attached is an ordinance appropriating $17,620.00 from Revenue
Sharing for the 1978 Ethnic Festival.
Inasmuch as the festival is a traditional activity familiar
both to you and to the general public, a detailed description of
it seems unnecessary.
We anticipate that the festival will take place Saturday,
July lst and Sunday, July 2nd and that the fireworks will take place
Tuesday, July 4th.
To further facilitate your review and approval of this ordinance,
there is enclosed a line item budget delineating anticipated festival
expenditures.
Should you have questions in regard to this matter, please
contact me.
