AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $132,700.00 FROM LOCAL
ROAD AND STREET - SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND TO PRO -
JECT R & S 68, IRONWOOD DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS, WITHIN
THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET- SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION
FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that the 1978 session of the Indiana General Assembly enacted Public
Law 58, Acts 1978, creating the Local Road and Street - Special Distribution Fund;
and
In that certain unsafe conditions exist along Ironwood Drive between
Edison Road and S.R. 23, necessitating the proposal of certain improvements;
and
In that certain additional funds are required to pay the cost of these
improvements; and
In that funds are available from the Local Road and Street - Special Distri-
bution Fund for these purposes,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the sum of $132,700.00 be appropriated from the 1978 Local
Road and Street - Special Distribution Fund to Project R & S 68, as set forth
below:

RE: North Ironwood Drive Improvements
R & S 68
Dear Councilmen:

The attached appropriation requesting $132,700 represents the balance of
those estimated funds needed to address the North Ironwood Drive improve-
ments.
In May of 1977, the initial appropriation for this project was made by the
Common Council. Said appropriation was in the sum of $695,000. Since the
date of that appropriation, the trunk sewer lines serving that area have
been installed and the engineering has been completed on the roadway improve-
ments themselves. In reviewing these plans, this office has chosen to
modify the proposed improvement froman asphalt base overlay to a new con-
crete pavement. This request for $132,700 is primarily needed to address
this change to concrete.
