AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $35,000.00 FROM LOCAL
ROAD AND STREET - SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND TO
PROJECT R & S 7805, BENDIX DRIVE INTERSECTION
IMPROVEMENTS, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET -
SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that certain unsafe conditions exist at two (2) Bendix Drive inter-
sections within the City of South Bend; and
In that certain improvements have been proposed to correct these unsafe
conditions; and
In that funds are now needed to pay the cost of the construction of
these improvements,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I: That the sum of $35,000.00 be appropriated from the 1978 Local
Road and Street - Special Distribution Fund to Project R & S 7805, as set forth
below:

RE: Bendix Drive Intersection Improvements
R & S 7805
Dear Councilmen:
The attached appropriation requesting $35,000 represents the cost of
improvements proposed at the intersections of Bendix and Bertrand and
Bendix and Linden.

As you are aware, Bendix Drive makes two right -angle turns at these
intersections. As a result, a great deal of congestion exists, particularly
when businesses in the Industrial Park and The Bendix Corporation itself
conduct shift changes. With the up and coming development of the shopping
mall at Bendix and Ardmore Trail, this office has proposed certain improve-
ments in order to increase the capacity of arteries serving this general
area. This appropriation will address two such improvements.
