AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $136,500.00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO
AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC
WORKS PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In that additional funds are needed by the Bureaus of Streets and Traffic
and Lighting to ensure the Department's ability to properly perform its functions,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $136,500.00 is hereby appropriated from the Federal
Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public Works and
will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and the fulfill-

RE: Vehicle Purchases for the Bureaus of
Streets and Traffic and Lighting
Dear Councilmen:
The attached ordinance requesting $136,500 from the General Revenue
Sharing Trust Fund represents that portion of the equipment replace-
ment schedules for these Bureaus which was designated for funding out-
side the M.V.H. and General Funds last year during budget review.
A complete list of those vehicles scheduled for replacement in 1978 is
attached. The estimated cost is listed for each item, and in those
instances where bids have been received, the proposed award figure is
listed. The balance of the replacement vehicles are currently being
advertised.

A total of $136,500 will be required to meet the cost of the 1978 portion
of our five -year program.
