Dear Council Members:
219/284 -9742
There will be presented for first reading on July 24, 1978, an ordinance
appropriating the sum of $6,000.00 from the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund, to
be used in a rodent control project. As you may have read in the newspapers
recently, the City through the St. Joseph County Health Dept. has undertaken
an emergency rodent control program in (3) three areas of the City. They are:
LaSalle Park, the Cooper Triangle, and the Coquillard area.
This action was deemed necessary because of the alarming increase in rodent
sightings and, therefore, complaints. Upon inspecting the designated areas,
Health dept. officers reported a large increase in rat holes. Dr. McCraley,
St. Joseph County's Health Officer felt that emergency action was warranted
by the conditions found.
If you have questions in this matter, please feel free to contact my staff or
my office.
Sincerely,
