HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-20-67 Council Special Meeting MinutesSPECIAL MEETING NO�TE�IBER 20T 1 q67 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council Chambers in City Hall on Monday, November 20, 1967, at 8:19' A..M. All of the members were present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, Edwin Thomas Smith, who presided. The Clerk read the Call for Special Meeting STATE OF INDIANA : ST. JOSEPH COUNTY : SS: CITY OF SOUTH BEND: TO THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that there will be a meeting of the Common Council on Monday, November 20, 1967, at 8 :00 A.M., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, in order to continue public hearing and entertain third reading on the following ordinance, to -wit: AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO CONDEMN CERTAIN REAL ESTATE FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF SOUTH BEND, AND THAT THE ACQUISITION OF SAID REAL ESTATE IS NECESSARY FOR THE EXPANSION OF SAID HOSPITAL. The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting. Szymkowiak /s/ Janet S. Allen /s/ Edwin Thomas Smith /s/ Robert 0. Laven /s/ John L. Hunter /s/ John V. Wise /s/ Richard G. Geib or by leaving a certified copy thereof at the last and usual place of residence of such members as I was unable to find, as follows: Albert E. Palmer Chester Muszynski /s/ Officer H. Kruszewski Member of the South Bend Police Department There being no objections, the Call for Special Meeting was accepted and placed on file. ROLL CALL: ORDINANCE PRESENT: Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and Muszynski ABSENT: None AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO CONDEMN CERTAIN REAL ESTATE FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF SOUTH BEND, AND THAT THE ACQUISITION OF SAID REAL ESTATE IS NECESSARY FOR THE EXPANSION OF SAID HOSPITAL This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. The public hearing had been continued from the regular meeting of November 13, 1967. Councilman Allen made a motion to recess. Time: 8:20. Reconvened: 8:30 A.M. Russell Kuehl, Attorney for Memorial Hospital announced that since both parties involved in the land acquisition had reached a tentative agreement, at the present time, he would request that the Council re -set the public hearing for it's regular meeting, November 27, 1967. Councilman Geib then moved that public hearing be continued until November 27, 1967. Councilman Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Special Meeting of the Council, Councilman Allen made a motion to adjourn. Time: 8:35. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried.
