HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-14-67 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes6 .COMMITTEE -,OF THE_WHOI.E MEETING AUGUST-1 —4, 1967 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Police Classroom at the Municipal Services Facility, on Monday, August 14, 1967, with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, who presided. Chairman Smith introduced Reverend F. A. Whetstone, Stewart Memorial Baptist Church, who gave the invocation. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS, (Location: East side of Ironwood Rd., South of the City boundary). This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Richard Muessel, petitioner, answered questions pertaining to the annexing of the property to the City. Councilman Geib made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Hunter seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO ACCOUNT L -72, "EQUIPMENT ", IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM ACCOUNT L -11, "SERVICES PERSONAL" IN THE ENGINEER- ING DEPARTMENT, ALL BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Mr. Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 40 -27 AND 40 -28 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962, AS AMENDED, ALSO KNOWN AS SECTIONS 10 AND 11 OF ORDINANCE NO. 3702, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance were Mr. Forrest West, Building Commissioner; and Martin Kleva of the Area Plan Commission. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO ACCOUNT Q -43, "REPAIR PARTS," IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,400.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM ACCOUNT Q -11, "SERVICES PERSONAL," IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, ALL BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance, was Mr. Cecil McHenry, Fire Chief. Councilman Palmer made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Wise made a motion to rise and report to the Council. Councilman Geib seconded the motion.
