The meeting was called to order by President John L. Hunter, Jr., who presided. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and'Muszynski ABSENT: None REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have examined the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Palmer Meeting of April 24, 1967 There being no objections, the report was accepted as read and placed on file. 0 a PETITION PETITION TO ANNEX CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA TO: The Honorable Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana The undersigned hereby petitions your Honorable Body to annex to and bring within the City of South Bend, Indiana the following described property located in St. Joseph County, State of Indiana which is contiguous to lands now within such city: Commencing at the Northwest corner of the Southwest Quarter (k) of the Southwest Quarter (k) of Section 20, Township 37 North, Range 3, East; thence East 1,500 feet; thence South 435.6 feet; thence West 1,500 feet to a point on the West line of said Section 20 which is 435.6 feet South of the place -of beginning; thence North 435.6 feet to the place of beginning. Said real estate is located on the East side of Ironwood Road and is located immediately South of and adjacent to the existing boundary of the City of South Bend, Indiana in the vicinity of Topsfield Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana. The undersigned constitutes the owner of all of the above described property which is requested to be annexed. Executed this 28th day of April, 1967. Doyle Vice President Councilman Allen made a motion that the petition be referred to the Area Plan Commission. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred f'AN ORDINANCE FOR'AN ADDITIONAL'APPROPRIATION TO ACCOUNT K =72, ;,"EQUIPMENT," IN THE. AMOUNT OF- $500.00 AND THE - TRANSFER IN THE SAME AMOUNT FROM ACCOUNT K -26, "OTHER CONTRACTUAL SERVICES ", IN THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM BUDGET ALL BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND. " Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. /s/ Edwin Thomas Smith, Chairman There being no objections, the report was accepted as read and placed on file. ORDINANCES, THIRD READING ORDINANCE NO. 4922 -67 AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO ACCOUNT K -72, "EQUIPMENT ", IN THE AMOUNT OF $500.00 AND THE TRANSFER IN THE SAME AMOUNT FROM ACCOUNT K -26, "OTHER CONTRACTUAL SERVICES ", IN THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM BUDGET ALL BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, (Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and Muszynski), 0 nays, 0 absent. REGULAR MEFTTNG May 8, 1967 ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SOLICITATION OF FUNDS FROM RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND PRO- VIDING PENALTIES WHERE SUCH SOLICITATION HAS BEEN FRAUDULENTLY CONDUCTED OR REPRESENTED. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on May 22, 1967. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST TO ACQUIRE THE MASS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF NORTHERN INDIANA TRANSIT, INC., WHICH SHALL BE A DISTINCT MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND WHICH SHALL BE KNOWN AS "THE SOUTH BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION CORPORATION" AND DEFINING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF SAID CORPORATION. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that the Ordinance be sent to the Transportation Committee , and that a report from that committee be given to the Council on May 22, 1967, with public hearing to be held on June 12, 1967. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. President Hunter then read a communication from the American Association of University Women informing the Council that one of their two representatives to the Council, Mrs. H. Park Tyler, is being replaced by Mrs. David B. Weisman. Mrs. Robert M. Parker remains'as their other representative. President Hunter welcomed members of a Civics class from John Adams High School, and thanked them for attending. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Muszynski made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. ATTEST: APPROVED: CLE SIDENT
