Home My WebLink About12-12-66 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting MinutesCOMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING DECEMBER 12, 1966 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, December 12, 1966, at 8 :00 P.M. All members were present except Councilman Muscynski, who was ill. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, who:'presided.• Chairman Smith introduced Reverend Lawrence E. Crockett, First A.M.E. Zion Church, who gave the Invocation. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 40 -8 -c OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962, AS AMENDED ALSO KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO. 3702, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 40 -17 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962, AS AMENDED, ALSO KNOWN AS SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 3702, THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Explaining the Ordinance was Mr. Howard Bellinger of the Area Plan Commission. Councilman Allen made a motion that the public hearing be continued until January 9, 1967, and that the Ordinance be referred to the attorney for the Area Plan Commission for clarification. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried, 7 ayes (Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Geib, Szymkowiak, and Smith) 1 nay (Councilman Laven) I absent (Councilman Muszynski) There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Allen made a motion to rise and report to the Council.
