HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-11-66 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting MinutesBe it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, July 11, 1966 at 8 :00 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Geib. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, who presided. Councilman Smith introduced Reverend Thomas Smith of the Christian Reformed Church, who gave the invocation. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE (Location: A tract of land 429 feet in depth and 198.45 feet in width located'on Edison Rd., also known as Elwood Ave., between Woodland and Meadowview) This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was F. J. Nimtz, attorney for the petitioners. Speaking against the Ordinance vere�'Mr._.and Mrs-Fred Slater, 22801 W. Edison Rd. Mrs. Slater presented a petition bearing the names of adjoining property owners who are not in favor of the proposed plans for the property, after rezoning. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Hunter seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Allen made a motion to rise and report to the Council. Councilman Hunter seconded the motion. Motion carried.
