HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-25-65 Council Committee of the Whole Meeting MinutesC COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING OCTOBER 25 1965 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, October 25, 1965 at 8:08 P.M. with,all members present except Councilman Glass. The meeting was called to order by Councilman Edwin Thomas Smith, Chairman, who presided. `Councilman Smith introduced Reverend Stanley Dodson of The First Baptist Church, who gave the devotions. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ZONING AN ANNEXED.TRACT NOW WITHIN AND A PART OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. (Location: S.E. corner of Portage and Kinyon) This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the ordinance were William E. Voor, attorney, Edward Meredith, 1609 Portage and Adele Schofield, 1603 Portage. Speaking against the ordinance were Richard Miller, 1310 Kinyon, Ralph Michaels, 1701 Portage, Jack Frank, 1728 Portage, Lorraine and Michael Kopinski, 1250 Kinyon, Vivian Huntzman, 1405 Kessler, Worley, 1715 Portage, Carol Moats, 1305 Queen, Clem Hulls 1320 Marquette,, MrsaC H�ageftbsich'rj:W,J. Grassby, Gladys Burkus,_Richard Mark, 1408 Kessler. Councilman Hunter made a motion for recess, Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting recessed at 8:55 P.M. Reconvened at 9:00 P.M. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as unfavorable. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion.' Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, (1605 NORTH SHERIDAN STREET) This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking against the ordinance was James Miller, 1815 N. Sheridan. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as unfavorable. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APRIATIONS FROM THE MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND TO VARIOUS ACCOUNTS OF THE STREET DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,000.00 This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the ordinance was Elden Templin, office manager of the Street Department. Councilman Geib made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable, Councilman Hunter seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE STREET AND TRAFFIC FUND TO VARIOUS ACCOUNTS OF THE STREET DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $29,050.00 This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Eldon Tlamplin, office manager of the Street Department. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF''.THE COMMONf�COUNCIL OF. THE'.- CITYvOF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: ADOPTION OF EXISTING MASTER PLAN AND ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above,reaolution , proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the resolution go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Allen made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried.
