NOVEMBER 25, 1963
Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council
Chambers in the City.Hall on Monday, November 25, 1963, at 8 :11 P.M., with all members present except Councilman L
The meeting was called to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided.

PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman,-° Glass, Krueper and'Muszynski.
ABSENT: Councilman Lehman.
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
To the Common Council of the :City of South Bend:
Your Committee of the Whole respectfully reports that,upon motion duly made by Councilman Kroll, seconded by Councilmar,
Muszynski and unanimously carried, due to the assassination of PRESIDENT JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY, and the fact that
the City, State and Nation have declared this a day of mourning, all business pertaining to the Committee of the Whole
on the agenda today be taken up at the next meeting of the Council.

Councilman Tellson made a motion to accept the report and place it on file. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
President Kroll_ requested the Council and others present in the chambers to stand for a moment of silent prayer in
memory of.President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

WHEREAS, JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY, the President of the United
States, died in the City of Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, at the
hand of an assassin; and,
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana, are
grieved and disturbed at the great loss to our community, to our Country,
to the world and to the family; and,
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of South Bend have joined and
desire to continue to join all peoples in paying tribute to this great
American and to this great man of our worls; and,
WHEREAS, JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY has been the beacon of light in
these troubled times in this world of ours and through him a cold war
was turned into peace and unemployment and pverty were turned into pros-
perity and through him all people were considered and recognized as human beings.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
express our deep sorrow and the sorrow of our community at the loss of this great
human being and we recognize that his past has been short but his doings during
this past will make our future brighter for our world.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council go on record as pledging its
cooperation to the President of the United States LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON, and
we hope and pray that with all America working together PRESIDENT LYNDON
BAINES JOHNSON will carry on the great works of JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY.

Councilman Muszynski made a motion for adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Krueper seconded the motion. Council -'
man Allen also seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes (Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski,
Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper and Muszynski), 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Lehman).
Councilman Krueper made a motion that the next regular meeting of the Common Council be held on December 2, 1963.
Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business to be considered at this meeting, Councilman Krueper made a motion to adjourn.
Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
