REPORT OF THE CLERK OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
July 8, 1963
To the Members of the Common Council
City of South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen:
I wish to answer your Directive regarding information on air conditioning for the Chamber.
In 1958 in the Board of Public Works budget we had $3,000.00 earmarked for air- conditioning for the Council Chambers
Calling in Air Conditioning experts they informed us that the cost would be approximately $7,000.00. I so reported
back to the Council and they decided to let the matter drop.
The original item in my budget for air conditioning was not used, therefore at the end of the year it went back to
the General Fund.
Regarding window air conditioners, I wish to caution the Council that because of the odd size of these windows it
would require changing of windows and window frames.
