HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-27-61 Council Meeting Minutes------------------------- - - - - -- REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 27, 1961 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council Chambers on Monday, November 27, 1961, at 9:29 P.M., with all members present. The meeting was called to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. ABSENT: None. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Lehman, Committee Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried. PETITITON Petition to annex land from the present City Limits to Ireland Road, east and west of Michigan Street. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS (Jackson Road between Ironwood and Miami), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion it SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. November 27, 1961 /s/ T. W. Lehman, Chairman Councilman Lehman made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. 376 REGULAR MEETING REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: NOVEMBER 27, 1961 Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS (Ironwood, Edison and South Bend Avenue), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE, AS AMENDED. /s/ T. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (Four corners of LAWRENCE AND HOWARD STREETS), Respectfully report that they have examined -the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED UNFAVORABLE. /s/ T. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED, (Grocery. and meat market, banks, laundry or dry - cleaning pick -up stations), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in-,their opinion it should be reported favorable. /s/ T. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE .WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24 OF CHAPTER 30, OF ORDINANCE NO. 3709, APPROVED JULY 12, 1949, COMMONLY KNOWN AS "MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1949," ALSO KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO. 3423, SECTION 21, (Relating to Arborists), Respectfully report that they have examined the mat and that in their opinion'IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. /s/ T. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 11A, SECTION 7 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ADOPTED IN 1949, ALSO KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO. 3925, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 7 (Inoperable cars, rubbish and trash), Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. /s/ T. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was:_referred AN ORDINANCE TO REGULAT THE BUSINESS OF INSTALLING AND SERVICING TELEVISTON.EQUIPMENT IN.THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND; TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE TERMS THEREOF, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE, AS AMENDED. /s/ T. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. ORDINANCE NO. 4422 - - -61 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AND PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA, WHICH SAID REAL ESTATE IS OWNED BY SAID CITY FOR USE OF ITS PARK DEPARTMENT. The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Lehman made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9. ayes and 0 nays. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Muszynski made a motion to adjourn. Council- man Tellson seconded the motion.
