HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-02-60 Council Special Meeting Minutes.SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 2, 1960 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Wednesday, November 2, 1960, at 7:30 P.M., with all members present except Councilmen Glass and Muszynski. The meeting was called to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. The Clerk read the Call for a Special Meeting as follows: STATE OF INDIANA COUNTY OF ST. JOSEPH SS: C4LL FOR SPECIAL MEETING CITY OF SOUTH BEND To the President and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Gentlemen: You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Acting Mayor of the City of South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M., on Wednesday, November 2, 1960, for the purpose of acting upon the following: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 4320 - - -60, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES FOR SERVICES RENDERED BY THE WATERWORKS SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 4321 - - -60, BEING AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF EXTENSIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE WATERWORKS OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF REVENUE BONDS TO PROVIDE FOR THE COST THEREOF, AND MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special Meeting. Kroll /s/ J. Chester Allen /s/ Chester Muszynski /s/ Eugene Ladewski /s/ Harold L. Coleman /s/ Albert Tellson /s/ Paul E. Krueper, Jr. /s/ Walter G. Glass /a/ T. W. Lehman or by leaving a certified copy thereof at the last and usual place of residence of such members as I was unable to find, as follows: /s/ Glenn W. Zubler Member of the South Bend Police Department Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Call be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. I Motion carried. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Krueper and Lehman ABSENT: Councilmen Glass and Muszynski. ORDINANCE NO. 4345 - - -60 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 4320 - - -60, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES FOR SERVICES RENDERED BY THE WATERWORKS SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND" The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Lehman made a motion for SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 2, 1960 267 suspension of rules. Councilman Krueper seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent (Councilmen Glass and Muszynski), the same being a unanimous vote of those members present at said meeting, said number being more than two - thirds of the members elect of said Council. The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent (Councilmen Glass and Muszynski), the same being a unanimous vote of those members present at said meeting, said number being more than two - thirds of the members elect of said Council. ORDINANCE NO. 4346 - - -60 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 3, 6 and 12 OF ORDINANCE NO. 4321 - - -60, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF EXTENSIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE WATERWORKS OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF REVENUE BONDS TO PROVIDE FOR THE COST THEREOF, AND-MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH" The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Coleman made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent (Councilmen Glass and Muszynski), the same being a unanimous vote of those members present at said meeting, said number being more than two- thirds of the members elect of said Council. The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent (Councilmen Glass and Muszynski), the same being a unanimous vote of those members present at said meeting, said number being more than two- thirds of the members elect of said Council. There being no further business to be considered at the Special Meeting, Councilman Lehman made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Special Meeting of the Common Council adjourned at 8:28 P.M. ATTEST: CLERK APPROVED: 0 PRES
